I am now back to my regular hours at the gym and it has taken quite some time to recover from the surgery. Along the way I have had a couple of set backs but nothing too major. I am now back into my weight training and my only restrictions currently are running and ab work. I am hoping that these things will be able to be introduced into my training shortly. I was able to get my large intestine returned to me after surgery once it had been tested. It was different to what I expected it to look and feel like. It feels more rigid and has the hard ridges like in your throat. For anyone that is interested to see it let me know as I still have it. I don't think I will keep it long term though. I am looking forward to starting up exercise sessions and running the Nothing to Lose groups in the near future once I'm properly healed. For anyone interested in being involved in a group session let me know. Sheena Burnett Nutritionist Fit 4 Consumption Hamilton, New Zealand

The surgery had a few problems at the start and I was required to have a second surgery. I am now over this and am on the road to recovery. I am back at work part time until I am over the actual surgery, there are no problems now with the actual operation side of things and everything it was planned to do has been achieved. I am looking forward to being able to get back into my exercise. I have a few scars about 5cm each one up and one down from my belly button and 3 others on my stomach area that are only about 2cm each. I'm not too concerned about these. The result was that 1/3 of my total intestines has now been removed and I only have a small section of my large intestine remaining. None of my small intestine was removed. I lost some weight due to this surgery but it would be mainly the weight that I carried around with me due to the blockages and bloating that I constantly had prior to surgery. I will be able to give you a more realistic comparison when I'm back exercising again as I will have lost some of my muscle tissue over the past 6 weeks also. Thank you to those who visited me in hospital and have sent me messages since. I can't wait to be up and running without having to "take it slow" all the time. Slow is not really my personality!! I will be having abdominal surgery in January 2012 which will cause me to be off work for some time. I will be in touch with everyone once I'm back on my feet again probably late February or early March. There is a bit of humour (well I see it as humour) as I need to be on a pre-operative diet for 1 week prior. This consists of a maximum of 10g of fibre per day! This is NOT very much at all for someone who generally likes a good helping of vegetables. I am normally telling everyone to eat their vegetables and giving tasty recipes for making with vegetables but while you will all be doing this I will be having up to 2 x 1/3 cup servings of vegetables per day, white bread, no wholegrain anything, no wholemeal anything, plain white processed stuff is all I'm allowed. No nuts, no seeds, no fruit skins or pips, but you are thinking heck what am I allowed..............I'm allowed clear juices, and strained clear soups. So who wants to come to my dinner party, what's on the menu? Vegetable soup, without the vegetables of course - yum yum just what you wanted in the middle of summer isn't it! All in all though it's for a good reason. Once I am back on board I will be missing half of my large intestine and hoping that my overall health and ongoing digestive problems will be solved. My large intestine doesn't function properly and with a 10 year history of problems with it it has resulted in removal. I am looking forward to the surgery and most definitely will be looking forward to my first meal of vegetables post surgery! I will be checking my emails from time to time and you are welcome to email me throughout January but please just be aware that my responses may not be as quick as normal. I know a lot of you are able to continue following your meal plans we have created for you in the last part of this year and I look forward to your first appointment in 2012.....whenever that may be. Have a great Christmas and New Years break, enjoy yourselves but be sensible with keeping the results you have achieved to date in mind. Sheena Fit 4 Consumption Nutritionist Hamilton, New Zealand

Congratulations to Aleesha Cliffe for winning the latest Nothing to Lose Challenge. In 6 weeks she lost a total of 16.5cm and had a 24% reduction in her amount of body fat that she had from day 1. This is only one example of the many success stories from this challenge. Another client shared a story of how their clothes are all too big and baggy now after their 18% reduction in body fat. Another mentioned how it hadn't even been difficult to follow the meal plans and the food was really enjoyable and easy to prepare. She has enjoyed it so much and has a plan to continue on. This is great to hear that weight loss can be enjoyable and not always such the daunting task that people think it is. With the right guidance from a nutritionist who can personalise healthy meal plans to you, support you through the process and you have the key to success. In the 6 week challenge we also did a small fitness test in week 1 that was then repeated in week 6, these scores were improved greatly, which was an additional bonus to the benefits of being involved in the Nothing to Lose challenge. Well done to everyone involved and long may your results continue Sheena Fit 4 Consumption Nutritionist Hamilton, New Zealand

Your body responds well to change, try mixing up your training to see some good results. I have added swimming into my exercise regime now, not only does it keep my training new and exciting it challenges my body in a new way. I know many people are more motivated at this time of year with summer coming and weight loss is high on the priority list. I have been eating well and exercising often and am seeing some good changes. If you need help getting motivated and staying on track please make contact and I will do my best to help you. With only 1 week to go until final measures for the Nothing to Lose Challenge there are going to be some happy people as the results to date have been very impressive. I've had some great feedback from clients saying they have enjoyed the food in the challenge and are going to continue with the plans even after the challenge. This is the idea of the challenge that it sets you up to continue on. Another person told me they never realised how good eating healthy could be and that it hasn't been difficult at all. Well it's all very exciting, the kg's have been dropping, the centimetres are falling away, energy levels are higher than ever and the faces turning up to bootcamp are now smiling! I really enjoy this point of the challenge where you see what you have each achieved during the past 4 weeks and kick it up a gear to really push through and reach your personal goals within the 6 week challenge. Good work to everyone for their past weigh and measure sessions, give it everything in these past two weeks and really set yourself up towards your longer term goals. Remember that it doesn't end at 6 weeks and this is just the start of your journey. It is an option to continue on with my nutrition and exercise services either in a group setting or with one on one appointments. Show me what you've got in these last two weeks of the challenge!! Congratulations to Annette Bettridge for winning the first weigh in prize for the greatest percentage loss of centimetres. Everyone in the group did really well and many said they felt they had lost but didn't want to get too excited incase they hadn't really. But believe it, because it is true you all did really well!! The next remeasure in a fortnight there will be a prize for the person with the greatest percentage loss in kg's of body fat. Good Luck to you all and enjoy your results so far. Exercise Session #1 complete! I bet it would be fair to say that everyone knows all hills within a 30 minute distance north of the gym. I had great pleasure in introducing the sneaky one that brought us out onto Victoria street! It was great to have a lot of laughs within the group and anyone that says exercise is not fun clearly needs to come to a bootcamp session. Can't wait for our next session already! Monday 20th June this group will be all go! It has been great getting to find out each person's individual goals for the next 6 weeks. 6 weeks is not a long time and remember that often our weight has been creeping up over a period of months or even years and although we will make a good head start towards our long term goals in this 6 weeks we are often just starting our journey. It is always pleasing to see clients continue on with their exercise and nutrition after the 6 week challenge and still continuing to see results. I will provide you with the tools and knowledge to allow you to do this. Creating a personalised meal plan takes a lot of time to produce something that is specific to your calorie requirements and meeting your required nutrients and vitamin needs. I look forward to sending your meal plans to you soon. Watch this space to track our group progress! Sheena Fit4Consumption Hamilton, New Zealand
