Abdominal Surgery

I will be having abdominal surgery in January 2012 which will cause me to be off work for some time.  I will be in touch with everyone once I'm back on my feet again probably late February or early March.

There is a bit of humour (well I see it as humour) as I need to be on a pre-operative diet for 1 week prior.  This consists of a maximum of 10g of fibre per day!  This is NOT very much at all for someone who generally likes a good helping of vegetables.  I am normally telling everyone to eat their vegetables and giving tasty recipes for making with vegetables but while you will all be doing this I will be having up to 2 x 1/3 cup servings of vegetables per day, white bread, no wholegrain anything, no wholemeal anything, plain white processed stuff is all I'm allowed.  No nuts, no seeds, no fruit skins or pips, but you are thinking heck what am I allowed..............I'm allowed clear juices, and strained clear soups.  So who wants to come to my dinner party, what's on the menu?  Vegetable soup, without the vegetables of course - yum yum just what you wanted in the middle of summer isn't it!

All in all though it's for a good reason.  Once I am back on board I will be missing half of my large intestine and hoping that my overall health and ongoing digestive problems will be solved.  My large intestine doesn't function properly and with a 10 year history of problems with it it has resulted in removal.  I am looking forward to the surgery and most definitely will be looking forward to my first meal of vegetables post surgery!

I will be checking my emails from time to time and you are welcome to email me throughout January but please just be aware that my responses may not be as quick as normal.  I know a lot of you are able to continue following your meal plans we have created for you in the last part of this year and I look forward to your first appointment in 2012.....whenever that may be.  Have a great Christmas and New Years break, enjoy yourselves but be sensible with keeping the results you have achieved to date in mind.
